Francesco Calco (Frank ) was born in Cleveland Ohio. In his teen years his family lived around the Luna Park area of East 110 street and Woodland Ave. He often walked twenty five minutes to the Cleveland Museum of Art at University Circle, to view and sketch his favorite painting. Frank attended a number of art classes provided by the Museum of Art. In 1942 he was drafted into the United States Military. He was trained as a surgical technician at Fitzsimmons General Hospital in Denver Colorado and transferred to the E.T.O. - –European Theater of Operations - - based with the 100 Bomb Group in England. With chance weekend passes to London - -Frank met Christina Walker at an English dance near Regent Street. Christina was a nurse at Highgate Hospital. After VE Day, they were married in 1945 at the city of North Shields in North East England. Their first child , Marcus –was born in England in 1946. Back in America, over the years Frank worked in construction and various manufacturing companies; and as a free- lance commercial art designer. Between jobs he had extended oil painting lessons with Italian and Russian professional painters. With a degree in Machine Design; in 1962 he was employed at NASA as an Engineering Designer. After thirty years, he left to take care of his wife at home. He continuous painting at home. His home and their four children’s homes are filled with his paintings in watercolor, oil, and other mediums.
